You guys – fall is here and while I am savoring every single last minute of summer, I always enjoy the transition between these two seasons. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not ready to line up for a pumpkin spice latte (yet) but I am starting to watch fall trends and figure out how to transition my wardrobe.
That being said, I have strolled the aisles of Target and scrolled the pages of the Target app to find the latest styles to share with you. I basically just described my perfect day activity…anyone else? Trend #1 Graphic Tees / Trend #2 Midi Slip Skirts
These two trends are best when used together! Don’t get me wrong – you can wear them many different ways, but pairing your favorite graphic tee with a midi skirt creates a styled look that combines dressy (skirt) with casual (tee). I like finding a tee that is a bit oversized and front tucking the tee, fully tucking it in or doing a front tie. As a mom of two very (veryveryveryveryveryveryvery) busy boys, this outfit is dreamy. With midi skirts typically hitting below the knee, it allows me to chase my kids while also maintaining my decency. I shared in my Instagram video that my favorite place to find graphic tees is the men’s section at Target – but I know many people also love thrifting graphic tees! One final note – these two items don’t need to coordinate perfectly or “match” – the style can almost have a little quirkiness to it (for example, a leopard midi skirt with a black rolling stones tee). I also think an easy way to layer this look is to add an oversized denim jacket – for those of us that choose to live in the tundra, we will need to start thinking about layers very soon because let’s face it…winter is right around the dang corner.

Trend #3 Revisiting the 80s/90s
This is probably one of the most polarizing trends…so if you do not love it, don’t shoot the messenger! (insert nervous laughter) This summer we saw the resurfacing of the biker short and I anticipate they will stick around for a few more seasons as people warm up to this trend. I even found a tie dye bike short! Speaking of tie dye – that is another trend that is going strong and I anticipate we will see it for awhile. We are also seeing extreme high waist denim and the “paper bag” waist (see second picture below) as well as some pleats coming back to pants (i can hear some of you screaming behind your phone screens…). Lastly, acid wash denim. It’s a thing. It’s happening. I’m not sure I can jump on that train…but I’m also not saying I won’t. Time will tell…
